Corrections... |
I take great care to ensure that my instructions are correct. However, I am only human and sometimes mistakes get through and are published. I apologise. Below are the errors that I know about, listed by book title and page number. Please contact me if you find any more or need something clarifying, I'll do my best to help.
The Knitter's Bible - first edition 2004 ISBN 0 7153 1799 7 also refer to The Knitter's Bible book & craft kit
Page 17 | CASTING ON - diagrams 3 & 4 are in the wrong order and should be swapped |
Page 25 | ADVANCED BINDING OFF - the diagram for seam bind (cast) off appears to have an extra stitch made on the previous row. This is my bad drawing and shouldn't be there, however it doesn't interfere with the explanation of the technique. The part of the diagram showing the technique is correct. |
Page 29 | slip one, slip one, knit two together should read k2tog tbl not p2tog tbl |
Page 94 | Small Gingham - Row 7 should read: * (K1, p1) twice, k6; rep from * to last 5 sts, (k1, p1) twice, k1. Row 8 should read: K1, (p1, k1) twice, * p5, k1, (p1, k1) twice; rep from * to end. |
Page 106 | MISTAKE RIB - row 2 of the chart is wrong - it should read from left to right, dot, dot, plain, plain, dot, dot, plain. |
Page 107 | ARAN RIB 1 - on the chart, there should be three plain squares each side and a bracket from the right side enclosing 8 sts. |
Page 119 | QUATREFOIL EYELETS - on the chart, one column of squares should be removed at the right edge. The bracket at the bottom of the chart should be moved in by one square on each side, enclosing 8 sts not 10. |
Page 121 | HORSESHOE LACE - rows 1, 3, 5 and 7 - the decrease should be sk2po not sl 1, k2tog. Chart row 7 - the arrow symbol should be replaced by the inverted V symbol (for sk2po). The inverted V should also appear on rows 1, 3 and 5 in the same column. The bracket should be moved in one square to enclose the last 10 sts. |
Page 124 | DIAMOND LACE - chart row 11 the pyramid symbol should be an inverted V (for sk2po). Row 27 - the first group of 4 symbols on the right should be moved one square to the right. |
Page 125 | LOOP EDGING - Row 2 should read: K1, (k1, p1) into double yo, k5. |
Page 125 | SCALLOP BORDER - Row 10 - delete 'Repeat these 10 rows.' The 10 rows are not repeated. |
Page 125 | OPENWORK EDGING - Row 11 should read: Bind (cast) off 6 sts, yo, k2tog, yo, k1. |
Page 134 | FUN CHILDREN'S MITTENS - Finishing - To join the seam at the top of the mitten, flatten the mitten so the thumb sticks out at the side. Join the seam using mattress stitch (page 71). When sewing on the faces, lay the mittens side by side with thumbs touching. You will then have a right and a left mitten. |
Page 139 | BEADED BAG - Row 14 should read: As row 6. |
Page 140 | SHEEP TOY - BODY: the last 2 rows of Shape Front Legs should read: Next Row Cast off 11 sts, k1tbl into each st to end. Next Row Cast off 11 sts, loop st into each st to last st, k1tbl. *** 20 sts |
UNDERBELLY: After 'Work as given for body from ** to *** ' there will be no sts remaining so ignore the instructions to bind (cast) off 10 sts.
HEAD - after the last decrease row the stitch total should be 19 sts not 14 sts.
EARS - second increase row should read: K1, M1, k10 (not k12), M1, k1. 14 sts
Page 150 | PATCHWORK CUSHION - Square 3C should be 'cast on 13 sts' not 19 sts. |

and Crochet Bible - first edition 2008 ISBN 0 7153 3280 1
all corrections are the same as The Knitter's Bible above NB the page numbers will be plus 2 for this version. Also, I can only deal with queries on the knitting section of the book. The crochet section was written by Sue Whiting and any queries should be addressed to her via the publishers. You can send your query through this online form: http://www.stitchcraftcreate.co.uk/contact-us |

Page 68 | In a Twist Wristwarmers - on both right and left wristwarmers - after working the 2 Foundation Rows and Rows 1 to 4, work 18 more rows in pattern not 22 rows. You will end with row 10 of cable panel. Knitting Tip on how to proceed after working the foundation rows and four rows setting the ribs and cable panel. You should keep repeating the four rows of rib, but work the cable panel all the way through and then go back to row 1 and repeat. So you would work row 5 next, then row 6, row 7, and so on to row 12 then return to row 1. Continue in pattern for another 18 rows (counting from row 5), ending with row 10 of cable panel. |
Page 98 | Cabled Poncho - Cable Panel C has row 6 missing. It should read: Row 6 K2, p6, k2. Knitting Tip: a knitter contacted me to say she wasn't sure how to proceed after working the four rows setting the moss (UK: double moss) stitch borders and the cable panels. You should keep repeating the four rows of moss stitch, but work the cable panels all the way through and then repeat. So for panels A and C, you would work row 5 next, then row 6 and then return to row 1. For panel B, you work row 5 next, then row 6 and then carry on through the panel working row 7, 8, 9 etc to row 18. Then you go back to the beginning and work row 1. Continue doing this until you have worked 6 repeats of panel B (the big cable). |
